If you’re a small YouTube channel and your videos are not getting views, you might make the following mistakes on your videos.
YouTube ranks the videos based on different metrics. Generally, we call it a YouTube algorithm. For instance, when the viewers get into a video and watch the entire video, then YouTube thinks, “Ok, this video has some value for the user so that we can promote this to other related users also.”
On the other hand, when the viewers skip your videos in between or at the very beginning of the video, YouTube might think, “Ok, this video is not related to user interest, so we can downrank them.”
Likewise, YouTube Algorithm considers many factors to rank up or down the video on YouTube Search and Suggestions.
So, you must optimize your video on YouTube SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
But initially, it would be best to find out what mistakes you’re making on your channel and how to correct them.
That’s why I bring up this detailed post. Let me explain why your videos are not getting views on YouTube and how to fix them.
Why My Videos Are Not Getting Views on YouTube
1) Procrastination
Procrastination means delaying or postponing the work, leading to consistency issues.
When you decide to be a YouTuber, you must be consistent. YouTube is not an overnight success like uploading a few videos and disappearing for years to see success.
The first and foremost problem of your videos or channel not reaching a broad range of audiences is a lack of consistency.
How To Fix it
Create a schedule and upload the videos regularly. There is no such pattern as you have to upload one video daily or weekly.
If you’re uploading one video every Friday at 6 PM, do it without fail (even if the skies fell). Over a period of time, your channel will get more videos, and it creates creditability among audiences and YouTube SEO.
2) Not Travelling with YouTube SEO
Are you monitoring your YouTube SEO regularly? Firstly, Are you using YouTube SEO correctly?
YouTube SEO refers to:
- Find low-competition and high-search volume keywords.
- Placing keywords in the correct places.
- Optimizing Description and thumbnails based on target keywords.
- Adding proper playlists.
- And many more on video SEO.
So, are you regularly traveling with YouTube SEO on your channel videos? If not, then it leads to not getting views on your channel.
How To Fix it
The best way to concentrate on your SEO is by doing keyword research. An effective way of keyword research is using the free keyword analysis tool called TubeBuddy.
When you type the keyword on it, it will show the search volume, competition, related keywords that helps to rank, and many more on this tool.
Apart from that, the following tips help to fix your YouTube Video SEO issues and gain more views,
- Add the target keyword in the title at the beginning.
- Don’t add repetitive words to the title. For more title ideas, read here.
- Write a detailed description of your video in the description part, along with the core and related keywords.
- Avoid adding broken links in the description.
- Add your channel name and core keyword in the video tags.
- Don’t add repetitive keywords in the video tags.
- Organize the playlists so that users can easily understand the categories of your videos.
3) YouTube Shorts
Recently, YouTube introduced YouTube shorts to engage with more audiences like Facebook and Instagram.
To be honest, many small YouTubers start pushing more YouTube Shorts than long-form videos because it pull more audiences/subscribers to your channel.
So, when you’re missing publishing the YouTube shorts more frequently on your channel, that’s why your videos are not getting exposed on search engines and not getting views.
How To Fix it
In a nutshell, add more YouTube shorts from now. Add one or two short videos daily.
Also, you can recreate your long-form video into shorts from YouTube itself.
There is a feature called Remix from YouTube mobile app to select the exciting portion from your video and make it short.
Also, you can create a new short or upload the existing files. Ensure that the short video must provide value at the end. The video shouldn’t end incompletely.
4) Missing YouTube Features
The reason your videos are not getting views on YouTube is that you’re not using the YouTube features properly to grow your channel.
Let me ask you a question,
How many regular users you’re receiving on your channel?
See, one of my small channels received 708 returning viewers in the last 90 days.
The number might look less, but 90 days before, I had barely 10 to 25 returning viewers only.
At that time, I realized I was not using YouTube features correctly to grow my channel. So, I rolled up my sleeves, did the work, and then I could see the above results.
How To Fix it
The actions I took to get more returning viewers were by using the following YouTube features.
- Add End Screen: Once the current video is complete, keep the viewer watching your other related video. That can be achieved by adding an end screen at the end of every video. This trick will triple your video views.
- Add Card Templates: Add cards template to increase the video views.
- Watermark Subscribe Button: Add the watermark subscribe button to every video to convert the viewers into subscribers. Learn how to add a watermark subscribe button.
5) Lack of Niche Knowledge
When you’re reading this, and you think that there are no blunders from you through the above points, but your videos are not getting enough views on YouTube, you have a problem with your niche.
Niche is nothing but the topic of your YouTube channel; if you’re making videos of all kinds of topics, like (how to do digital marketing, how to chop onions, how to invest in crypto, etc.) on your single channel, then you will fail.
You might be an allrounder and expert in all these topics, but your audience needs one solution point that contains everything they seek.
For example, if you’re talking about “Sports news.” on your channel, then do only the sports news. Don’t publish any other entertainment or general information.
So, when sports enthusiasts come to your channel and think, “Ok, this channel has everything I’m looking for in my sports carrier. It’s my HUB. Let’s follow him.”
This is how a unique niche performs well compared to junking all the information in one channel.
Note: When you have less knowledge in your niche, try to build it up. Frankly, YouTube will work for you when you add value to your viewers.
Use the task management tool like Trello to understand where you’re currently, and where you need to focus.
6) Too much rely on Making Money
Many creators started their YouTube channels for different reasons like passion, fame, money, promotion of business, etc.
But the majority of them were created to make money quickly. And it routes all the problems.
I understand YouTube is the platform to make more money online, but when your mindset is full of money, you will miss out on how to gain audiences’ trust.
How To Fix it
Don’t think about a single dollar($) return from your YouTube channel for the first year.
Please wake up, make videos, edit, publish, and repeat them. It must be your first one-year YouTube calendar.
Once you build a good number of views, videos, and subscribers, you will easily crack the first dollar($).
Make sure that you Don’t quit!
7) Low-Quality Videos
Some videos fail to get views because of low quality, even though it has excellent content. Like, low-voice, high background noise, low-video quality, no proper light settings, etc.
Do your videos have this issue?
Well, check it out. If so, please fix that in your upcoming videos. Here, I’m not saying you to buy the high-cost camera or other gadgets.
All I mean is, shoot and upload videos that are watchable by humans, not aliens.
Conclusion
Creating and publishing a video on YouTube is easy, but it must stand out from all your competitors. That’s why we need to follow a few metrics mentioned above.
I hope you understand why your videos are not getting views on YouTube and how to fix them. Also, let me know your issues with YouTube growth in the comment section. Let us try to solve it.
